It’s the 50th Anniversary of Lakehead University, as a result, celebrations are being held – big and small – all over the world. This is due to the diligent organization of the Alumni staff. One of the methods of celebrating is the “50th-in-a-Box” celebration kit, which was available to anyone who requested one. Some of these boxes ended up overseas, throughout the United States, and of course Canada. The Donor Events team, along with many volunteers, obtained an unbelievable assortment of items, which were packed by a group of volunteers. In total, 200 boxes were filled.
On the Wednesday closest to the 15th of any given month, retired Chemistry Tech Dave Corbett organizes a lunch at one of the many local restaurants in Thunder Bay for Lakehead University faculty and staff – both present and retired, plus alumni.
The above mentioned luncheon group were fortunate enough to be recipients of one of the celebration kits. At the April 2015 lunch, Gil Vanson, Alumni of the graduating class of 1968, and a retired Forestry Lab and Field Instructor, tested those present on their knowledge of Lakehead University, by asking questions in the 50th-in-a-Box Trivia Game. All questions were accurately answered, and each winner was rewarded by one of the many gifts included in the celebration kit.
All went home with a smile, and fun was had by all!
Thank you again to the Lakehead University Alumni Association.
